Lo studio delle superfici fogliari di Atropa belladonna L. mediante il microscopio elettronico a scansione, ha permesso di definire i dettagli morfologici delle ornamentazioni cuticolari e di descriverne le modificazioni in funzione del tipo di pagina considerata e del livello di inserzione della foglia sul fusto.
