Procedures for simulating processes of generation, propagation, and detection of Cherenkov photons and of reconstructing kinematic parameters of detected particles in the ring imaging Cherenkov detector (RICH) are described. A possibility of detection by the RICH with an area of about $1\,\mathrm{m}^2$ of primary cosmic-ray particles with different charge number $Z$ in a wide momentum range is shown.
