The creation of this article is associated with the discovery of algebra textbook for secondary school by Jan Kostecki(1902) in my father's bookcase. Reading of it was accompanied by my astonishment voluminous material contained therein. Amazement is increased when we compare the range of teaching mathematics in schools during the period under Austrian rule with the program currently in force in secondary schools and universities.
