We give to the Readers the successive 16th volume (2022) of the journal Antiquitates Mathematicae, specializing in history of mathematics. It is one of the few journals of this type in Poland and Central-Eastern Europe, if not the only one. In the section European Mathematics we present an article by Ch. Phili from Athens about the famous mathematician of Greek origin, Constantin Carathéodory (1873-1950) and his conception of founding a university in Smyrna, today Izmir, Turkey (article in English). The section History of Mathematics in Poland contains two articles, both authored by Lech Maligranda. In the first one the author presents a probing biography and a scholarly analysis of the works of Juliusz Schauder (1899-1943), one of the prominent members of the Lwów School of Mathematics. In the second article, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Stefan Banach’s habilitation the author recalls administrative problems with its approval by the Ministry of Religious Denominations and Public Education, describes the habilitation procedure, discusses the result obtained in this habilitation thesis, published in 1923, and presents unknown details of the habilitation process. These two articles are published in Polish. In the section Biographies we present two articles. Martina Bečvářová from Prague presents a scholarly profile of Seligmann Kantor (1857- 1903), a Czech-born German-speaking mathematician, whose name appears in the development of some mathematical disciplines, such as combinatorics, configuration theory, geometric transformations. Lech Maligranda and Marta Aleksandra Balińska from Nice recall the profile of the mathematician Aleksander Rajchman (1890-1940), who achieved very good results in mathematical analysis. The authors publish for the first time a good photograph with his likeness. Both articles are in English.
