New third-order splitting methods for partial differential equations of the evolutionary type in a three-dimensional space are presented. The methods are derived on the basis of diagonally implicit three-stage methods used for numerically solving stiff ordinary differential equations. For the methods to be third-order accurate, the coefficients of the methods must satisfy some previously known and additional conditions.
