The influence of dispersion and dissipation on the accuracy of two-layer difference schemes for solving the transport equation is studied. The dependence of the order of convergence of the scheme on the orders of dispersion and dissipation is estahlished. A method is given for constructing composite schemes with improved orders of dispersion and dissipation.
