In the present paper a relationship is established between explicit formulas for the Hilbert symbol in a local field of characteristic zero and the Witt formulas in a local field of finite characteristic. The results obtained are formulated. As an application, the Artin–Hasse formulas are proved. Bibliography: 7 titles.
