For general system of hydrodynamic equations the method of normal modes in the case of a point sound source in stratified ocean perturbed by a current is advanced. The comparison with analogous results for the case of quasi-potential equation gives possibility to estimate the effect of replacement of generalized equation of state by approximate state equation.
