The paper considers two approaches for constructing Il'yushin's thermodynamic functionals: a theoretical approach using a model of an ideal crystal and a phenomenological approach using macroscopic internal parameters satisfying a kinetic equation. By this route one can proceed to the solution of the problem of the physical nature of Il'yushin's functionals.
