Jedním z nejpoužívanějších testů statistické významnosti je tzv. Studentův t-test. Autorem matematického modelu, na kterém je tento test založen, je britský statistik William Sealy Gosset (1876-1937). Článek popisuje podstatu a vznik tohoto testu v matematickém a historickém kontextu.
