Two-dimensional quantum gravity with action of general form combining local and nonlocal actions is considered, it is shown that in the light-cone gauge there is a symmetry which leads naturally to the $SL(2,R)$ Kac–Moody current algebra. The singleloop renormalization of the theory is studied.
