The energy–momentum tensor density of the gravitational field, which can be defined in general relativity by means of the ideas of the relativistic theory of gravitation, is calculated for the case of material spheres. The connection between this quantity and the Riemann tensor $R_{\alpha\beta\gamma\delta}$ is discussed.
