An effective Lagrangian with four-quark interactions is used to construct phenomenological Lagrangians that describe the interactions of scalar, pseudoscalar, vector, and pseudovector nonets. Expressions are obtained for the masses of these mesons. Estimates are given for the masses of the current and constituent quarks.
