The equation for the scattering amplitude proposed by Babikov and Mir-Kasimov (Phys.Lett. B,31,415 (1970)) is considered. The meaning of the divergent series in the equation is made more precise and it is reduced to a mathematically correct form suitable for numerical calculations. A method is proposed for solving the equation, this being effective for high energy scattering. As an example, the well-known eikonal representation of the scattering amplitude is derived.
