On renormalization and the $\mathscr R$-operation for quantum electrodynamics in an external field

For quantum electrodynamics in an external stationary field it is shown (without a series expansion in $U$) that the procedure of multiplicative renormalization with the same values of the renormalization constants as in the theory without external field makes all observable quantities finite.
