The functional method is used to solve the Klein–Gordon and Dirae equations in an external field of a special type. The field is a superposition of an arbitrary constant homogeneous electromagnetic field and the field of a plane electromagnetic wave of arbitrary polarization and spectral composition whose wave four-vector is an eigenvector of the stress tensor of the constant homogeneous field.
