In this paper we introduce an algebraic structure in the set of complex irreducible algebraic representations of some totally disconnected groups (for example, of all analytic groups over disconnected locally compact fields). From this we deduce the existence of a sufficiently large family of irreducible representations of these groups over algebraic number fields. Bibliography: 2 titles.
