We compare lower estimates of Gallagher, Chillag and Wilde on the number of zeros of irreducible characters of finite groups. We formulate each estimate both for group elements and for conjugacy classes. We compare for each pair of estimates, if there are infinitely many symmetric groups where one of them is better than the other.
