Wachs [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 106 (1989), 273-278] studied the q-enumeration of derangements in the symmetric group Sn by the major index and obtained a q-analogue of the classical derangement number. We consider in this work the q-enumeration of derangements in the hyperoctahedral group Bn by the flag major index and obtain a q-analogue of the type B derangement number.
