We provide a small overview of some interesting relations between square roots in GF(q)[T], their continued fraction expansion, and the divisor theory in GF(q)[T,D1/2]. A detailed exposition of these results will be the subject of a forthcoming study [Konstruktive Arithmetik in GF(q)[T], IV].
