The article entitled The termonuclear fusion and diffusion (on random walk) is focused on simplified but detailed derivation of the two basic results of the random walk model of diffusion: (i) the fixed position of the centre of mass of many particles and (ii) the increase of the particles’ mean distance from the source, which is proportional to the square root of time. The subject is introduced by its relevance to the thermonuclear fusion research, where power losses due to transport of particles are of central importance. The random walk model is then explained in two thought experiments: first, based on cross-country ski collisions to describe collisions of plasma particles in magnetic fields; second, on a big escape of fleas to expose random walk principles. In the conclusion, the results are exemplified again on the role of size in the case of fusion reactors.
