This paper reports the effects of two pesticides (Brestan and Paraquat) on haematological and serological patterns of the clawed toad Xenopus laevis Daud. After 7 days of treatment and after 20 days of treatment Brestan and Paraquat demonstrate harmful effects, reducing or increasing erythrocyte, leucocyte, thrombocyte and serum protein levels. In addition, although Brestan is more toxic than Paraquat, together they often demonstrate irreversible, additive or synergic effects.
