Compared with the dry period 1962-1965 and the wet period 1963-1964, the net plankton of the hot and rainy year 1966 reached an exceptional figure of 571-1004 cc (St. 4 and 3) in the Mar Piccolo; it was higher (224 cc) in the St. 1, but lower (229 cc) in the St. 2 of the Mar Grande. The productivity however was higher in the two basins of the Mar Piccolo: 190 gr/m2 (St. 3) and 177 gr/m2 (St. 4) and lower in the Mar Grande: 160 gr/m2 (St. 1). We have altogether in the year 1966 a net production of 96 tons C/km2 in the Mar Grande (1962-65: 102 tons/km2) and of 110 tons/km2 in the Mar Piccolo (1962-65: 91 tons/km2).
