Questo lavoro divulgativo illustra alcuni tra i principali contributi del matematico Robert J. Aumann, covincitore nel 2005 del premio Nobel per l'Economia "per aver approfondito la nostra comprensione dei conflitti e della cooperazione attraverso gli strumenti analitici della teoria dei giochi". Gli argomenti trattati includono: i giochi cooperativi e l'insieme contrattuale, i modelli di mercato basati su un continuo di agenti, i giochi ripetuti, gli equilibri correlati, la conoscenza comune, i fondamenti epistemici delle decisioni interattive, ed una curiosa regola di liquidazione fallimentare.
This expository paper illustrates some of the main contributions of the mathematician Robert J. Aumann, corecipient in 2005 of the Nobel Prize in Economics "for having enhanced our understanding of conflict and cooperation through game-theory analysis". Topics include: cooperative games and the bargaining set, market models based on a continuum of agents, repeated games, correlated equilibrium, common knowledge, epistemic foundations for interactive decisions, and an intriguing rule to deal with bankruptcy.
