Adoption of Digital Television in Ex-Yugoslavian Countries
Review of the National Center for Digitization, Tome 23 (2013) no. 1
The aim of this paper is to describe digital television broadcasting, where the emphasis was set on the second generation - DVB-T2 standard and the adoption of digital television in the ex-Yugoslavian countries. The principle of operation, main characteristics, the area of application, advantages and disadvantages, the type of coding, as well as the implementation of DVB-T standard in the region were pointed out. Also, there will be given the conditions to be met by user in order to receive DVB-T signal, compatibility with other standards and how the system requirements to be met. The process of invoking DVB-T in the region is discussed, providing that the DVB-T2 has been implemented in Serbia. The time and speed of the transition from analogue to digital terrestrial television signal will be discussed, too.
