It is demonstrated that if $\{E_n\}$ is a system of measurable sets satisfying the condition $\mu E_n\ge\mu_0>0$, then it contains a subsystem $\{E_{nk}\}$ independent in a certain generalized sense. A certain general assertion about the choice of subsystems is demonstrated in a preliminary way.
