La filière MASS (Mathématiques Appliquées et Sciences Sociales) comprend le DEUG MASS, (fonctionnant actuellement dans 26 Universités), la Licence MASS et la Maîtrise MASS, (présentes dans 14 Universités). Cette filière originale, pluridisciplinaire à dominante scientifique (mathématiques, statistique, informatique) existe maintenant depuis 18 ans. On en présente l'évolution et l'état actuel à différents niveaux : origines et effectifs des étudiants, orientations et débouché des diplômés, horaires et contenus des enseignements. On termine par un bilan de la filière qui, malgré quelques problèmes, est largement positif, et en évoquant ses perspectives d'avenir. Treize annexes, notamment statistiques, permettant d'accéder à une documentation précise sur la filière, sont jointes à cette présentation.

Abstract

In the seventies the french “Ministère de l'Education Nationale” created new degrees, called, at an undergraduate level, the “DEUG Mathématiques Appliquées et Sciences Sociales” (“MASS”, Applied Mathematics and Social Sciences), and at a graduate level, the “Licence MASS” and the “Maîtrise MASS”. The curriculum to get these degrees contains a training in mathematics, statistics, computer science and in a social science (Economy, Psychology, Sociology, Geography, History, Philosophy, Linguistics). This paper gives an historical and present account on these degrees : the Universities where they are prepared ; their programms ; the students that prepare it ; the other cursus followed or the positions obtained by their graduates, etc....It concludes by giving a positive appreciation on these degrees in despite of some problems. There are thirteen annexes giving especially statistical data.
