In the solution of evolutionary problems in electrodynamics numerical method FDTD with PML boundary conditions inevitably arise reflection of electromagnetic waves from the boundaries. The nature and magnitude of these reflections depend on many parameters. We demonstrated the method of calculating the coefficient of reflection for the one-dimensional case. A comparison with the real three-dimensional numerical experiments shows the high accuracy of the calculated theoretical reflection. On this basis, a method for selecting optimal parameters of the perfectly-matched layer proposed.
