This article explores the issue of using mathematical models to study sustainable regional development. A model has been constructed that takes into account innovation through modification of a previously created, already traditional, model of regional development without an explicit description of innovation by supplementing it with a special innovation block. The model is considered as the basis of information and computer tools to support strategic management decisions that meet the modern paradigm of sustainable development.
