Digital signal transmission through wireless media is severely complicated by radio fading–time-varying signal distortion that causes the loss of data packets. Retransmission of lost packets degrades data throughput. This paper describes the method of transmission throughput estimation for different rates developed by the authors and also the application of this method to rate adaptation algorithms estimation.
