Summary: Efficient, backward-stable, doubly structure-preserving algorithms for the Hamiltonian symmetric and skew-symmetric eigenvalue problems are developed. Numerical experiments confirm the theoretical properties of the algorithms. Also developed are doubly structure-preserving Lanczos processes for Hamiltonian symmetric and skew-symmetric matrices.
