Soit $T$ une application d’un groupe $G$ dans le groupe $U\left(H\right)$ des opérateurs unitaires sur un espace de Hilbert. Si $T\left(gh\right)-T\left(g\right)T\left(h\right)$ est un opérateur compact pour tous $g,h\in G$, quelles sont les obstructions à l’existence d’un homomorphisme $S:G\to U\left(H\right)$ avec $S\left(g\right)\to T\left(g\right)$ compact pour tout $g\in G$ ? Nous étudions ici les cas où $G$ est une somme amalgamée de groupes finis et où $G$ est un produit semi-direct d’un groupe fini par $\mathbf{Z}$.

Abstract

Let $T$ be a map from a group $G$ to the group $U\left(H\right)$ of unitary operators on a Hilbert space. If $T\left(gh\right)-T\left(g\right)T\left(h\right)$ is a compact operator for all $g,h\in G$, what are the obstructions to the existence of a homomorphism $S:G\to U\left(H\right)$ with $S\left(g\right)\to T\left(g\right)$ compact for all $g\in G$? We study here the cases where $G$ is an amalgam of finite groups and where $G$ is a semi-direct product of a finite group with $\mathbf{Z}$.
