Bouquet decomposition for Determinantal Milnor fibers

We provide a bouquet decomposition for the determinantal Milnor fiber of an Essentially Isolated Determinantal Singularity (EIDS) of arbitrary type. The building blocks of the decomposition are (suspensions of) hyperplane sections in general position off the origin of the generic determinantal varieties. For the special case of (2 x n)-matrices we give a full description of the homotopy types of the determinantal Milnor fibers as a wedge of spheres.
