Professor Antoni Leon Dawidowicz - a long-standing member of the Editorial Board of the journal "Mathematica Applicanda" - passed away on 19 April 2022, in Krakow, Poland. For over forty years, he was closely associated with the Polish Mathematical Society, in which he held numerous positions, including President of the Krakow Branch of the Society, Chairman of the Audit Committee, delegate of the Krakow Branch to the General Assemblies of the Society, and active member of committees within the Society. It was on his initiative that the Jubilee Congress of Polish Mathematicians was held in Krakow in 2019 to mark the Society's centenary. Antoni Leon Dawidowicz was the honorary chairman of the organising committee of the Congress. The article provides a comprehensive overview of Professor Antoni Leon Dawidowicz's life, scientific achievements, and selected works of his authorship on the applications of mathematics.
