A queueing process is considered in an industrial park with a great number of machines of the same type, each of them consisting of a number of different subassemblies. In the case of failure, the failed subassembly is transferred to the proper service line in the repair shop and is replaced by a functioning subassembly from the reserve. The total cost of subassembly failures, which depends on the number of work stations in each service line and the number of subassemblies of each type, is minimized, under assumptions imposed on the queueing model.(MR0449614)
