The purpose of this article is to present the issue of the political business cycle (PBC), and present the most recent literature on this subject. This theme, very popular in Poland, lived in extensive studies covering almost all areas of the economy. PBC issue is particularly interesting in the context of the current political situation in Europe - a progressive integration of the countries of the European Union and the wave of financial problems that affected the state, which has so far been regarded as economically stable.
