PhD studies in Mathematics and Natural Science, called MISDoMP, have been conducted within the College of MISMaP UW since 2008. The College itself was formed in 2001 by seven UW faculties: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography and Regional Studies, Geology, Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics as well as Psychology. This inter-faculty study programme offers a wide range of new opportunities for open-minded students whose broad interests go beyond the beaten paths of traditional education. This claim is supported by examples of projects being carried out at MISDoMP. The article also shows the advantages that interdisciplinary dissertations can bring to the advisors and the university. A profile of the PhD students is sketched. Finally, the author of the article clarifies the details of the admission procedure.
