Construction of block ciphers: new possibilities

The paper is an explication of how to construct block ciphers in a completely new way. The paper can be divided into three parts. In the first part the foundations of the construction of block ciphers and their security are given. In the second part the foundations and properties of chaotic systems are given. In the third part there are some considerations about using the chaotic systems to construct block ciphers. Applying the chaotic systems in symmetric cryptography is very original and a completely new idea. Chaotic systems have a lot of properties similar to the requirements for block ciphers. The main problem to solve is digitizing chaotic systems (which are continuous) to use them in a discrete application such as block ciphers. Much more consideration and investigation of this matter are needed; however, the idea is very interesting and promising.
