Mathematization of rotation as a didactic issue

In the article we present the results of a pilot study, conducted among 8-9-year-old students, regarding their intuition of rotation and its invariants. We were interested in the extent to which students were able to pay attention to elements such as: center of rotation, shape invariance, constant orientation (without overturning) of the figure on the plane during rotation. The students had to refer to their intuition to the rotation of the chairs on the carousel. Their task was to draw several positions of a triangle-shaped chair. The collected results show that students intuitively retained rotational invariants to a large extent. These results may be an incentive to conduct further, in-depth research in this area.
