Nowadays, only little geometry is taught in primary schools in Poland. During their first years at school, students learn only names of geometric shapes, their measurements and simple calculations. A review of materials documenting the methods of teaching geometry in Poland over the last 250 years shows that such methods are almost unchanged. Therefore, it can be argued that the inherited tradition has had the greatest impact on the style of teaching in this area. It is even more striking in the light of the results of much education research that prove the importance of shaping geometrical imagination in further successful education as well as many professions years ahead of them.
