A method for designing algorithms to compute viscous incompressible flows

A new way of regularizing difference schemes for solving the viscous incompressible Navier–Stokes equations is proposed, based on a formal generalization of the “kinetically compatible” differences schemes designed previously for viscous gas flow computations. As a model problem the flow of an isothermal fluid in a plane cavity is considered.
