To investigate the propagation of normal waves in the free pransversal-isotropic elastic layer it is necessary to determine the roots of corresponding dispersion equation. It is shown, that the roots move monotonously along the axis of phase velocity as the wave number increases. The initial and final points of all roots are determined. The examples of calculation of the roots are provided in the paper.
