The influence of gas flow rate on the methane-air mixture burning in a flat burner with an inert body

A mathematical model of the methane-air mixture combustion in a flat burner with an inert body is presented. Gases in the top and lower parts of the flat burner exchange heat through the inert body. The inert body serves as a regulator of the combustion. The mathematical model takes into account gas thermal expansion and the dependence of diffusion, heat conductivity, and heat exchange coefficients on temperature. The numerical solution was carried out in dimension variables and parameters. It is shown that the combustion front is established in the top part of the flat burner. The range of the 6% methane-air flow velocity for which the steady combustion mode is implemented is determined. The dynamics of establishing the stationary combustion mode and flame failure is presented. It is shown that the inert body provides a heat recovery, warming up of the mixtures in the entrance part of the burner, and the mixture ignition.
