Influense of the circulation zone on settling velocity of fine particle in bidisperse suspension

The circulation zone formed behind a spherical particle under a flow around it in incompressible fluid is investigated on the base of numerical simulation. The increase in the settling velocity of fine particles in joint sedimentation of small and large particles due to the fraction of small particles that are in the hydrodynamic wake of large ones is estimated.
