The information about the life and scientific and educational activities of Nicholas Yanenko, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Professor, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Director of Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences is provided in [1,2]. This article gives a brief overview of the life and work of the graduate of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, Tomsk State University, Academician N. Yanenko. Particular attention is paid to his influence on the creation and development of the Department of Physical and Computer Mechanics at MMF TSU and the above-mentioned scientific and educational school.
