The approximation method of aerodynamic characteristics computation of long thin blunted cones during their hypersonic flowpast at small angles of attack and slip has been realized. The method of «axisymmetric analogy» was based on using the concept of «the equivalent body» and reduces a space-three-dimensional problem of bluntness to a series of axisymmetric problems. By comparing the results obtained with those of «precise computations», limits of its usage were set and the possibility of its applying for estimation of aerodynamic properties of descent capsules with asymmetric-shaped bluntness was demonstrated.
