In the article there are some results of patients questioning on the problem of smoking: a degree of prevalence of a harmful habit among men and women; knowledge of smoking patients about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; and also motivations of refusal of smoking. The special attention of the author is paid to the role of general practitioners in the struggle against smoking.
