On the example of an ordinary fox, the posiibility of research of the discomfort of the population of mammals, included in the ecosystems changed under the action of the anthropogenic factor is shown. As a method of research of the behaviour of fox, the winter tracking techniques carried out with the parallel accounting of the parameters of informational-sign field were used. The indexes of of field and functional forms of behaviour registered for the fox living in the considerably changed by people biotopes differs from the indexes of field and forms of behaviour, charachteristic for the fox living in favourable conditions. Behavioural reactions of species of fox may serve as an original indicator of the level of discomfort of species living in the suburban biotopes and agrocenosis.
