This paper focuses on two humanistic teaching strategies for high school and university students. The first strategy involves methods for using visual imagery and art to introduce students to mathematical ideas. Polyhedra, modern art, computer graphics, and computer animations are illustrated in examples for classroom use. The second strategy discusses methods for using history and cultural perspective to help students understand mathematics as a human endeavor. Examples will be drawn from the Golden Age of mathematics in the Middle East, 9th Century ? 15th Century, AD.
