On the basis of the refined theory of anisotropic shells, which takes into account the impact of transverse shear on the stress-strain state of the shell, the optimum values of the geometric and physical parameters of the composite material-made cylindrical shell of stepped lengthwise section, ensuring the greatest bearing capacity of the shell at a given its assigned weight and overall dimensions, are determined.
